Prospects of Armenian-Chinese Cooperation

Joint High-Quality Development of the Belt and Road Initiative: Concept and Actions” international conference, organized by the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies (CASS–IREECAS), was held in Beijing, China, on November 18-19, this year.
Representatives of state structures, academic institutions, research centers and international organizations of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, South Caucasus and other countries participated in the conference.

Edvard Berujanyan, expert at the Orbeli Analytical Center, participated in the conference at the official invitation of IREECAS and delivered a report titled “The South Caucasus as a Bridge of Cooperation: Armenia’s ‘Peace Crossroads’ Initiative in the context of the “One Belt, One Road” Program”, presenting Armenia’s regional role, the significance of the “Peace Crossroads” initiative, as well as the opportunities for the development of Armenia-China cooperation.
The speech presented that China’s “One Belt, One Road” project forms a new model of international cooperation based on mutual benefit and interdependence, and in this context, Armenia and the entire South Caucasus can act as one of the key nodes connecting Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

During the conference, the importance of deepening interconnection in the Eurasian region, the need to combine logistics and infrastructure projects, as well as the formation of new formats of cooperation, were emphasized. The participants noted that the quality development of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative requires a comprehensive partnership, the exchange of experiences, and the active involvement of scientific and analytical potential.
Thematic panel discussions and professional contacts were held within the framework of the conference.
