Orbeli Center Expands Cooperation with India’s Partner Organizations

On February 12-13, Elya Harutyunyan, IPRC Director’s Advisor, and Mikayel Yalanuzyan, Coordinator of the Orbeli Analytical Center, were on a two-day visit to New Delhi, India. They had meetings and discussions at Indian think tanks and scientific-research institutions.  



On February 12, the Armenian delegation met with Arvind Gupta, Director of the Vivekananda Foundation, R. K. Sawhney, Centre Head for National Security and Strategic Studies and Internal Security Studies, Lieutenant General, and other research fellows at the Vivekananda Foundation.

Acomprehensive discussion of the Armenian-Indian relations agenda took place, covering key areas of cooperation in the military, political, economic, and cultural spheres. The Armenian delegation presented information on the global political situation around Armenia, resolution processes, regional infrastructure projects, particularly the RA Government’s “Crossroads of Peace” project and its subdivisions.      





An agreement was reached on developing cooperation between the Orbeli Center and Vivekananda Foundation and the possibility of mutual visits, discussions and joint research was considered for this purpose.

On February 13, the IPRC delegation visited the NatStrat Think Tank. They met with Pankaj Saran, Convenor of NatStrat, advisor Shantanu Mukharji, and other research fellows and analysts.   



Armenian-Indian relations, events in the South Caucasus region, and a wide range of issues of mutual interest were discussed. The importance of establishing and developing cooperation between the two centers for the benefit of Armenian-Indian relations was emphasized. 

During a visit to the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses, discussions with research fellows Smruti Pattanaik and Rajorshi Roy highlighted the existing ties and previously implemented initiatives between the two centers, while also exploring new opportunities for cooperation. A comprehensive discussion was held on the current geopolitical situation surrounding Armenia and India, and views were exchanged on the prospects for the further development of Armenian-Indian relations.  

Within the framework of the visit to New Delhi, the Armenian delegation also had an introductory meeting with Shishir Priyadarshi, President of the Chintan Research Foundation. The main areas of activity of both centers were presented, and an agreement was reached to explore opportunities for cooperation.
